Lutronic LaseMD ULTRA™ is the newest laser treatment Dr. Shelton’s practice has acquired for resurfacing to treat minor irregularities, pigmentation, melasma, skin rejuvenation and fine lines/wrinkles.
LaseMD™ is different from traditional resurfacing lasers as it is a non-ablative fractional treatment. Non-ablative means a laser that heats the deep layers of your skin without damaging the skin on the surface. Dr. Shelton is extremely happy to be able to offer his patients LaseMD™ as a treatment, especially for melasma. Melasma, despite being called the mask of pregnancy, is a skin darkening condition that affects women and men. The Permea and Fraxel Dual lasers have been used for this condition but Dr. Shelton and other doctors in his practice have seen some patients’ melasma improve better as a result of the use of LaseMD™. A topical lightening agent is applied immediately after the treatment. Usually LaseMD™ is done as a series of 5-6 treatments and then maintenance as Melasma is a condition and can recur easily from hormones and sun exposure despite sunscreen usage.

How Does The LaseMD™ Work?
The new LaseMD™ heats the deeper skin layers to stimulate the production of your body’s collagen and elastin. As you age, collagen and elastin levels lessen in your body, paving the way for fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. LaseMD™ has the high-energy settings of controlled heat to encourage your body’s natural healing response to restore the tissues and improve the appearance and texture of your skin. It can be performed during your lunch hour; so you can return to work immediately.
An anesthetic cream is usually applied prior to the procedure. The treatment usually takes Dr. Shelton less than 15 minutes for a full face. There is usually some redness and then after a couple of days there may be some darkening that lasts a few days. Patients can expect some superficial peeling after 4 or 5 days. Repeat treatments can be done in 2-4 weeks.
What Areas Can LaseMD™ Treat?
Neck, face, hands, chest, and other areas of the body.
