Sagging Skin Reduction Manhattan

Manhattan specialist delivers sagging skin reduction as an effective, non-invasive alternative to surgery

With time, years of unprotected sun exposure, smoking, and poor nutrition can show up on our face as furrows, creases, and less-than-taut skin. Gravity takes its toll, as does the normal aging process. With time, the underlying skin structure breaks down. We have less of everything responsible for youthful appearance, from subcutaneous fat and collagen for plumpness to elastin, which gives skin its flexibility.

What we don’t have less of are excess skin and loose folds.

While it may seem there are many factors working against maintaining or restoring firm, smooth skin, Dr. Ron Shelton also has a number of tools to address your sagging skin concerns.

Non-invasive options

In the past, tightening skin may have been associated with going under the knife and drastic, invasive procedures. These procedures required lots of time away from work or activities, as well as discomfort and possible complications and side effects. Furthermore, surgical intervention of the past didn’t always result in the desired appearance in the end. After the healing time and recovery, it might be discouraging to look in the mirror and see a face that doesn’t look like a better you, but instead looks like someone else entirely.

ThermiTight™ is one way Dr. Shelton can safely tighten your skin without dramatically altering your appearance and without the use of a scalpel.

This procedure works well by using heat to jumpstart the production of collagen lost with time, which ultimately results in a tighter appearance. After the area to be treated is numbed for your comfort, controlled heat is applied safely via a tiny probe inserted through the smallest of punctures. Thermal imaging allows Dr. Shelton to continuously adjust and monitor the temperatures so skin is heated to an effective level without damaging tissues.

Unlike invasive surgeries, most ThermiTight™ procedures require no more than 60 minutes to complete. Thanks to Dr. Shelton’s knowledge of the procedure as an early adopter and technologies used to monitor temperatures safely, little more than a gentle wrap may be necessary following treatment. There is downtime so discuss this with Dr. Shelton in consultation and how it pertains to your particular situation.

Just as it took time to see your skin become lax, results are gradual. You will usually see results within weeks but the full effect will require months as collagen is remodeled. ThermiTight™ may also be used in many different areas, such as the jawline and neck, back, abdomen, thighs, and arms.

Dr. Shelton also offers other treatments within the ThermiRF™ System. The “RF” stands for the radio frequency energy that heats deep tissues. These procedures include ThermiSmooth™, which uses a handheld device on the surface of the skin to apply RF energy instead of a special probe gently placed under the skin to deliver the skin heating and tightening energy.
