What are the benefits of dermal fillers?
Board certified dermatologist, Dr. Ron Shelton in the Midtown Manhattan area, uses injectables and fillers as a popular method of fighting facial signs of aging. These treatments are a common solution for patients who visit their dermatologist complaining of fine lines, wrinkles, and folds. As patients age, they begin to lose collagen which is a substance naturally occurring in the skin. It adds volume and resiliency. Over time, collagen is lost which can result in unwanted skin laxity. Dr. Shelton is here to help patients with non-invasive methods of improving their appearance to age gracefully.
12 Days After Voluma to Upper cheeks, Vollure to smile folds and marionette lines and Volbella to lips
Post Operative Volbella immediate results on smoker’s lines and lips
Some men want a better defined jaw, and Voluma was used here to create a more acute angle of the jawline. The results were immediate and after some numbing cream only took a few minutes. Results can last up to a year or more.
What fillers make you look younger?
Instead of correcting the signs of aging with invasive plastic surgery, patients in the 10016 area can now choose from a wide selection of injectables to improve the texture and tone of their skin. Injectable therapies available through dermatologist Dr. Ron Shelton include:
All of these injectables have their own advantages. Botox® and Dysport® are neuromodulators which are used to halt muscle contractions that cause lines, wrinkles, and folds on areas such as the forehead, around the eyes (crow's feet), and between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). Juvederm®, Restylane®, Voluma™, and Belotero® are dermal fillers that are created with hyaluronic acid. This is a water-attracting molecule which can instantly reduce the depth of fine lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that exists in the dermis, the layer under the epidermis that provides plumpness support and inflates and softens the appearance of wrinkles. Dr Shelton often says it’s like making the raisin turn back into the grape from which it came.
Radiesse® and Sculptra® are collagen builders. These work over time to naturally enhance collagen production and generally last much longer than traditional fillers.
Dr. Shelton works with patients in his modern dermatology office at Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York to determine which injectable is most appropriate. Injectables may also be used in combination and with other rejuvenation treatments. Patients should also be considered proper candidates before having any procedure done, as is standard practice at our facility.
