ThermiTight in NYC - Before and After Treatments

We offer several innovative treatment options to reduce the signs of aging. One of the priorities in our practice is to remain at the forefront of aesthetic medicine. Dr. Shelton is proud to be one of the first few physicians in the New York City area to offer the ThermiTight™ NYC procedure as part of the ThermiRF™ system.

ThermiTight™ is the first procedure of its kind, falling into a category all its own. ThermiTight™ has been referred to as an in-between procedure, in between surgery and non-invasive, no-downtime procedures. It is ideal for men and women who have problem areas in which skin has become loose and saggy but who prefer to address such problems in a non-surgical manner. Some of the common areas on which ThermiTight™ has been extremely successful include the face, neck, arms, abdomen, back, thighs, and knees. This technology has been extensively tested for safety and efficacy, and it continues to exceed our expectations.

How ThermiTight™ works

Many of today's non-surgical skin tightening treatments work by sending waves of thermal energy through the epidermis into the deeper tissues. This is the case with ThermiSmooth™. What differentiates ThermiTight™ from all other non-surgical solutions is its mode of delivery. Through scientific research, it has been discovered that skin will shrink when the deep tissues of the dermis, beneath the surface of the skin, are heated to 50-65 degrees Celsius. The maker of ThermiTight™ is the first to develop precise technology based on these findings.

ThermiTight™ treatment consists of heating deep tissues with a probe smaller than a pencil lead. The probe is inserted through a tiny needle prick after local anesthetic is given, and is monitored as it is moved in a methodical pattern until the desired temperature has been reached. We can see the movement and the heating of tissues via specialized imaging on a computer screen. The imaging and state-of-the-art technology of the ThermiTight™ device allows safe, effective heating beneath the skin while protecting surface skin from burns, by constantly measuring the skin's surface temperature with a very specialized infrared camera. Throughout treatment, the patient remains comfortable under the effects of local anesthesia.

The intense heating of cells in the dermis elicits a strong response through which collagen production is significantly increased. The results of ThermiTight™ may begin to show after a few weeks, but the realization of full effect takes up to 12 to 18 months as continued improvement has been noted that long after the procedure. Treatment is powerful enough to produce very good results in some patients, but gentle enough to allow the patient to return to normal daily activities quicker than some surgical procedures. Patients of Dr. Ron Shelton have choices. In addition to the ThermiTight™ procedure, we also offer ThermiSmooth™, also based on radiofrequency energy. The difference between the two is that ThermiSmooth™ is a surface treatment in which a hand piece is glided over the surface of the skin.

ThermiTight NYC - Dr. Shelton was an attendee at a ThermiTight live procedure in New Jersey

Dr. Shelton was an attendee at a ThermiTight live procedure in New Jersey on CELLULITE by Dr. Karen Harkaway; As he has been doing ThermiTight in NYC for almost a year and has been one of the earliest adopters.

Dr. Shelton said after attending the conference, “he is optimistic that ThermiTight can provide good results in reducing cellulite although it may be a treatment that will need maintenance treatments as there is no known cure for the condition.”

After local anesthetic is given the cellulite is heated by the injectable RF (radiofrequency) energy. Some fat globules get reduced and the collagen bands that hold the skin down and cause the dimpling of the skin get released.

As Dr. Shelton has been doing ThermiTight on the face, he sees the similarity in producing tighter and smoother skin on the sagging neck.
