I have a few creases on my lower eyelids. I wanted to have Botox because my friend had it for the same reason and got a great result. My doctor told me that I shouldn't have it in this area, although I could do my Crow's feet, because I have swollen bags of fluid. Why can't the Botox help my creases?
Botox would help minimize your creases of the lower eyelid skin but it would probably worsen the swollen bags of fluid. Botox lessens the pump action of the lower eyelid muscle and the fluid backs up increasing the swelling. It can be used for the glabella (the "eleven" between the eyebrows) and the Crow's feet without worsening the lower eyelid bags.
Every time I smile, the tip of my nose pulls down. Can this be fixed?
Botox can be injected, as an off-label use, in the columella of the nose, the strut underneath the nose that divides the nostrils, and this may relax the muscular pull.
I have a twitch of my jaw and neck. Can Botox be used to help this?
You should see a neurologist who can determine the involved muscle groups, and evaluate the cause for your trouble. Then if there is no other treatment for it, or if those treatments' risks are not worth it, Botox might be used to relax the muscles. Sometimes the muscle that would need to be relaxed with the Botox would impair vital functions if not working, so then Botox wouldn't be used.
How different is Dysport from Botox. If I had a reaction to Botox can I have Dysport?
Allergies are extraordinarily rare with Dysport and Botox. Some people have noticed nausea and headache with both, but these are the extreme minority, but it seems that it is a one-time event for most as they do not report getting the symptoms the next time they have the treatment. The botulinum toxins mentioned are of the same serotype, A. Xeomin, which has recently been FDA - approved, is also Serotype A.
I am thirty-two and just starting to have Crow's feet. Should I have laser around my eyes?
The most commonly used treatment for this condition is a botulinum product such as Botox, Dysport or Xeomin. Lasers won't correct the muscle action (squinting) that contributes to the wrinkles but the Botox and Dysport do.
